Your child – fun, exercise, values, character – sounds like the 1st tee!

Do sports really hold the promise of teaching participants lessons for life?

You know the quotes.

Clichés or wisdom

“Sport teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you what it’s like to win and lose – it teaches you life.” -Billie Jean King.

AND

“Sport teaches us to develop ourselves. It helps us learn things like resilience, leadership, responsibility, respect, and patience. The lessons that sport teaches us can help us grow as players and also as good people. – Dean Evans co-founder of the Football Center.

Does sport really build character

Sounds good and it used to be true…however, these days it seems to be more the exception than the rule. But there IS a program that respects values and it’s called Central Washington’s first tee.

We allow children to develop the strength of character that allows them to meet new challenges throughout their lives. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf into the life skills curriculum, we create learning experiences that build the inner strength, self-confidence and resilience children bring to everything they do.

History of the first tee

Fourteen years ago, First Tee of Yakima began operating two golf courses in Yakima. An 18 hole, par 70 course at the Suntides Golf Course and the 9 hole, par 3 Fisher Golf Course.

Skip to summer 2019 and First Tee of Yakima has expanded to include Kittitas and Chelan counties. and became First Tee – Central Washington.

The expansion includes programming at Three Lakes Golf Club in Malaga, just outside Wenatchee, Mount Adams Golf Course in Toppenish and a three-hole course at SOZO Sports Complex in Yakima.
