New Braunfels accepting arts and heritage grant applications
The City of New Braunfels accepts applications from tax-exempt nonprofit arts and heritage organizations for funds raised through the Hotel Resort Tax.
According to the City of New Braunfels, proceeds generated from the hotel resort tax are to be used to advertise and encourage the growth of the local tourism and convention industry, with 15% of revenue going towards improving amenities. arts and cultural organizations and programs.
“The amount of grants awarded each year depends on the income generated the previous year. For example, approximately $659,000 has been allocated by the New Braunfels City Council for local arts and heritage programs from funds raised in 2021,” the City of New Braunfels said in a news release.
Eligible art-related programs include instrumental and vocal music, dance, drama, folk art, creative writing, architecture, design and related fields, painting, sculpture, photography , graphic arts and crafts, film, radio, television, tape and sound recording. . Other arts related to the presentation, performance, execution and exhibition of these major art forms may also be included.
Eligible heritage grants include organizations or programs that support the enhancement of historic restoration and preservation projects or activities. In addition, advertising and carrying out promotional solicitations and programs to encourage tourists and convention delegates to visit preserved historical sites or museums are also included.
To be eligible for arts and heritage grants from hotel occupancy tax funds, organizations must be 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations as designated by the IRS and as defined in the Section 351.101 of the Texas Tax Code.
