Maine Man Totals Truck because he was counting money
Normally, when we hear about accidents caused by distracted driving, it’s because the driver was playing on their smartphone. They were texting, playing on Facebook, or recording a TikTok video.
Not this time…
A man from Greene is fortunate enough to have escaped serious injury by destroying his truck while counting his money!
According to the Lewiston Sun Journal, around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Nicholas Landry, 32, was heading south on Middle Road to Sabattus in his 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck. He had just left a restaurant where he had cashed his paycheck and was counting. his money while he was driving.
He was traveling at about 50 miles per hour when he swerved from the road and cut a mailbox.
Unable to regain control, he dug into the ditch, hit a culvert, and took off about seventy feet before his truck “pitched” into the ground.
Landry was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident. His only injury was a small lump to the head.
Landy agreed to pay for the mailbox and cleaned the driveway to the residence where he crashed.
Consequently, he will not be charged in connection with the accident.
We are happy to hear that no one was injured in the crash and we feel he has learned his lesson on distracted driving.
