Launch of the book “Humanity meeting angels in the poetry of Iqbal”
Islamabad: Pakistani author Khurram Ellahi’s work on Pakistani national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal has been hailed in the Danish parliament (Denmark).
Khurram Ellahi translated the book ‘Mankind Encountering Angels in Poetry of Iqbal’ shed light on how Iqbal presented the thesis of man before the world in comparison with angels and how man being the vicegerent of God is created to work wonders and miracles, said a press release published here on Saturday.
“Iqbal offers solutions to the dilemmas of modern man,” said Khurram Ellahi.
At a planned conference in the Danish Parliament to unveil the Danish translation of Iqbal’s poetry, Sikandar Siddique – Political Leader of the Independent Greens and Member of the Danish Parliament – welcomed a large audience from different diasporas.
The cultural adviser at the German embassy in Denmark, Lasse Rodwald, said the relationship between Iqbal and the Germans was inseparable.
Iqbal spent his years of research in Germany and praised the marvelous works of Goethe and Nietzsche which were also reflected in his poetry.
Professor Niels Christian Hvidt of Syddansk University later gave a keynote address on “Poetry and Spirituality” highlighting Iqbal’s message about why spiritual interpretation of the universe was so vital in the 21st century for man and how medical science had developed a watchful eye on it. .
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Denmark, Ahmad Farooq, thanked the participants, also adding concluding remarks urging these literary efforts to grow to bridge the gap between the eastern and western factions of the world.
