Expo 2020 Dubai: Emirati astronauts to present the wonders of the cosmos during Space Week – News


Some of the brightest stars in space research and exploration will lead Expo 2020 Dubai’s Space Week, which begins on Sunday.

Space Week, which runs October 17-23, will highlight the latest innovations in space research and travel, while providing a platform to discuss critical issues.

UAE’s first astronaut Hazza Al Mansouri and the country’s first female astronaut Nora Al Matrooshi will highlight the wonders of the cosmos and demonstrate the accessibility of the space sector to the public at one of the sessions.

Researchers and scientific leaders from various international space missions will also gather at the World’s Fair to shed light on the benefits, solutions and challenges of exploration beyond our planet’s orbit.

Here’s a look at what to expect this week.

17 october

>> The People’s Mission: Citizens in Space Exploration and Space Tech for Inclusive Development, the flagship event of Space Week, featuring famous astronauts, takes place all day at the Dubai Exhibition Center (DEC) .

>> Chile: our history of space – The seminar on space exploration in Chile takes place at 10 am at the Terra Auditorium.

>> Majlis of the world | Powers Outside This World: Using Space for the Benefit of All Mankind is at 4 p.m. at the Terra Auditorium.

October 18

>> The Timor-Leste National Day celebrations will take place at 10:15 am at Al Wasl Plaza.

>> Biennial International Conference of the World Giftedness Center – Top researchers meet to present best practices in giftedness from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at DEC, Hall 1A North.

>> The Matryoshka Festival, featuring Russia’s best folk artists, takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dubai Millennium Amphitheater.

>> Worthy tales, stories of great ambition and hope – Space exploration personalities share their stories from 3 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. at the Terra Auditorium.

>> Space session – Four panelists discuss space science in Pakistan all day from 10am to 10pm at DEC, Hall 1A North.

October 19

>> Guyana’s National Day celebrations take place at 10:15 am Al Wasl Plaza.

>> Space Business Forum, showcasing technology and advancements demonstrated by the UAE, various times at DEC Hall 2A South.

>> Future Food Forum – Discussion with representatives of the F&B industry, until 6 p.m., DEC, Hall 1A South.

>> Majlis of the world | Does life in space offer a model for more sustainable life on Earth? The session will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Terra Auditorium.


>> ISRO Head to Speak at “Space Week” at India Pavilion

Speaking about the upcoming event, Yousuf Hamad AlShaibani, Director General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, said: International space community and global stakeholders in Dubai.

He added, “To focus on the future of the space sector, we need enhanced cooperation between countries and other sectors to achieve new discoveries and new revelations.

“We are confident that the event will hold meaningful and detailed discussions on the future of space and further encourage development and innovation in the space sector and contribute to the advancement of human knowledge.”
